Despite the current trend for the folding metal roof, Audi upholds their belief in the strength, style, and insulation of the soft top. With a push-button roof opening time of 9 seconds and a closing time of 11 seconds (timings based on Sport model), this is a head-turning, fun car especially when the sun is shining. TDI engines with a start-stop system significantly lower emissions and boost fuel economy.

The TDI diesel-engined Audi A3 was named Green Car Journal’s 2010 Car of the Year at the Los Angeles auto show.

According to Parker’s car reviews, the Audi A3 Cabriolet looks good and is great to drive.

Driving The Audi A3 Cabriolet

The automatic start-stop function takes a short while to become accustomed to if you are not familiar with it. Steering is responsive and accurate with good road grip whether the roof is up or down. The gear shift is light.

The fully adjustable steering wheel and driver’s seat adjustment options ensure a bespoke driving position although, with the roof up, rearview vision is slightly compromised by the rear head restraints and small rear window. The body is rigid over bumps and suffers none of the scuttle shakes of many other convertibles.

Audi A3 Cabriolet Interior

Using high-class materials, the seats are supportive and the controls ready to hand. Although the boot opening is on the small side, there is decent boot space with folding rear seats if extra load space is needed. With surprisingly ample room for four people, the Audi A3 Cabriolet is versatile and comfortable for short or long journeys. The roof can be operated at speeds of up to 19mph.
